Purpose of role
Provide Server/LAN/WAN management covering all aspects of network administration, including security, according to Service Level Agreements along with implementing improvements to Cochlear infrastructure.
Accountability and associated responsibilities
Network Operations
* Providing technical support to Service Desk and Users regarding Servers/LAN/WAN issues.
* Maintaining accurate log entries of fault with resolution and contact details.
* Ensuring all hardware/software installations and routine upgrades are implemented according to Service Level Agreements.
* Monitoring, tuning and performing trend analysis of the System/Network performance
* Providing an effective interface between users and service providers supplying all necessary diagnostic information according to procedures.
* Maintenance and support of the LAN and WAN environment, including routers and Firewalls.
* Monitoring and performing administration of Cochlear’s IT security systems
* Evaluate and test new technologies to ensure compatibility and integration
* Recommend, design and implement changes and improvements
* Operating system upgrades, support, patches and major releases
* Compliance with IT standards
* Security administration, including application systems
* Responsibility for backups and recovery and for the disaster recovery plan testing
* Ongoing documentation management and adherence to Computer System Validation requirements
PABX Management
* Management and configuration of Cochlear’s phone system
Continuous Improvement
* Initiate ideas to the Enterprise Networking manager on system and process methods to further improve customer service deliverables
* Participating in ongoing team training and development
Team Management
* Manage and mentor members of the network team
Key incumbent requirements
* Proven ability to install and configure operating systems and applications
* At least 4-6 years of experience as a Systems Engineer or Network Engineer in a medium to large organisation;
* Microsoft (MCSE or MCSA) and Cisco (CCNA) Certifications;
* Strong skills in LAN/WAN management in a Windows environment;
* Experience with Microsoft 2003 Server, Active Directory, VMWare, Cisco routing, Checkpoint, UNIX/LINUX and PABX Administration
